Artist Chang Xiangyu is the founder of the "Chang School" of Yu Opera. Her motto is "Theatre is bigger than heaven". She regarded art as her life, and devoted her life to Chinese opera with a passionate feeling for the art.In 1951, under the care of Xi Zhongxun, then secretary of the Northwest Bureau of the CPC, Chang Xiangyu led the "Xiangyu Theatre Society" to hold 178 charity performances in Xi'an, Xinxiang, Kaifeng, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Guangzhou, etc., and raised funds to donate the "Xiangyu Theatre Society" to the volunteer army. The "Xiangyu Theatre Society" was donated to the volunteer army.Later, she led the Yu Opera team to hold more than 180 comfort performances in war zones, which greatly ignited the patriotic fervour of the whole nation, and was acknowledged and praised by Mao Zedong and other leaders of the older generation, with Xi Zhongxun inscribing the words "Model of Patriotism" for Chang Xiangyu.

 

 

2023 coincides with the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army in the War against the United States and North Korea, in order to inherit the red gene, lead the social direction, and stimulate patriotic feelings, the life division of Henan Radio and Television Station planned to launch the "Search for the red mark to carry forward the spirit of Xiangyu - Henan Radio and Television Station" Rewalk Xiangyu Road "series of media coverage activities. The journalist team went along the road of the touring charity performance led by Master Chang Xiangyu, who donated fighter planes to the theatre company, and showed the feat of donating planes to the charity performance of Chang Xiangyu through short videos and illustrations in an all-round way.

The launching ceremony opened with the classical song of Yu Opera "Hua Mulan". It was sung by Yu Opera master Chang Xiangyu in the original voice, performed by Cao Huimin and Cao Huifang, re-transmitted disciples of the Chang School, and accompanied by eight children from the Henan Xianqiao Children's Art Centre. The programme embodied the unceasing life and passing on of the art of opera.
